A new method for evaluating the viability of biofilm-forming bacteria after exposure to disinfectants shows that while the cell viability decreases, the effect of quaternary ammonium compounds and chlorine-containing disinfectants is reversible, with viable cells disseminating from the biofilm after 24 hours.
