Four new hybrid materials were synthesized by incorporating photo- and thermoresponsive N-salicylidene aniline derivatives into Co(II)- and Zn(II)-based layered simple hydroxides, resulting in structures that exhibit fluorescence, thermally-stimulated keto-enol tautomerization, and magnetic behavior.
