This study found that novel variants of the CRHR1 gene are specifically linked to both major depressive disorder and type 2 diabetes, and may contribute to their comorbidity through dysfunction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and glucocorticoid receptor-alpha binding.
