This study demonstrates that the structure and symmetry of crystallographic sites in Ruddlesden-Popper phases of strontium titanate doped with Mn4+ ions significantly impact the luminescence of transition metal ions, resulting in a record-breaking shift of the Mn4+ emission band to 734 nm and improved thermometric performance.
