EGR1 and EGR2 proteins from the protein phosphatase 2C family positively regulate plant abscisic acid (ABA) signaling by modulating the phosphorylation of SnRK2.2, with de-phosphorylation at serine 31 inhibiting SnRK2.2 activity and reducing ABA responsiveness in plants.
