The FTA Card method was used to sample hydatid cysts from ruminants in eastern Algeria, and molecular analysis confirmed the presence of Echinococcus granulosus sensu stricto, demonstrating the ubiquity of the G1 genotype and the effectiveness of this method for identifying E. granulosus sensu lato species.
