Home noninvasive ventilation can improve outcomes for certain patients with chronic respiratory failure, particularly those with obesity hypoventilation syndrome, COPD, neuromuscular disease, or chest wall disease, but more research is needed to determine the optimal settings and timing for initiation in different patient populations.
