This preliminary study found that in early-stage amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), there is a decrease in soluble RAGE (sRAGE) levels and an increase in advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and advanced oxidation protein products (AOPPs) levels in the blood, suggesting a loss of neuroprotection and a rise in oxidative stress and protein damage.
