The study found that the degree of testicular torsion and duration of symptoms are important factors in determining testicular salvage, with detorsion performed within 6 hours resulting in 100% testicle preservation, and Sertoli cells and spermatogonia being more resistant to ischemia than spermatocytes and spermatids.
