“Covalent Functionalization of Amorphous Silica with Aromatic Hydrocarbons: A Study of Surface Density”

The study found that the covalent functionalization of amorphous silica with aromatic hydrocarbons results in a lower surface density of silanol-terminated phenyl, naphthyl, and anthracenyl molecules than the maximum value calculated based on molecule geometry, and this decrease is more pronounced with an increasing number of aromatic rings.
