This study found that the direct anticoagulant drugs dabigatran, argatroban, rivaroxaban, and apixaban have varying levels of effectiveness in inhibiting blood clotting, with rivaroxaban being the most active according to prothrombin time and argatroban according to activated partial thromboplastin time; moreover, the ex vivo anticoagulant effect was influenced inversely by body mass index and positively by cholesterol and triglyceride levels, but not by sex.
