This study used genomic SNPs and GC-MS to analyze the evolution and chemical diversity of volatile compounds in Salvia species, revealing that the volatile compounds are mainly monoterpenoids, sesquiterpenoids, and aliphatic compounds, and that the distribution patterns of these compounds differ among the four branches of the phylogenetic tree.
