This systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials found that using a self-expanding metal stent (SEMS) as a bridge to surgery in malignant left-sided colorectal obstruction has significant advantages in relieving clinical symptoms and facilitating postoperative recovery, but does not reduce the tumor recurrence rate.
