This study reveals that poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) microgels maintain a constant size at low concentrations, but deswell above a certain concentration due to increased osmotic pressure triggered by counterions associated with charged groups in the microgel periphery, and highlights the importance of considering suspension polydispersity in measuring their form and structure factors.
