The abstract reports the first use of attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR FT-IR) to determine the wax appearance temperature (WAT) of waxy crude oil under high gas pressure, finding that CO2 and natural gas reduce the WAT, while nitrogen has no effect, and ATR FT-IR can be an effective method for proper WAT determination under high-pressure conditions.
