This study created a stable, low-mortality nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) model using a choline-deficient, high-fat diet and intermittent 0.8% dextran sulfate sodium, and demonstrated the use of abdominal ultrasonography to assess NASH stage and diagnose liver tumors without necessitating necropsy.
