This study reports a thiol-free, copper iodide-catalyzed method for the regioselective synthesis of (Z)-β-alkenyl sulfides via a three-component reaction utilizing aryl/alkyl halides, phenylacetylene, and potassium isopropylxanthate in polyethylene glycol, with the carbothionate intermediate and Z isomer formation confirmed.
