A new synthetic strategy achieves high-performing catalysts for oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural through electrochemical activation of Ni MOF-Au, resulting in stable anchoring of Au nanoparticles and high-valence NiOOH-Au3+ species for efficient FDCA production.
