This study found that both congruence and discrepancy in parent-adolescent perceptions of parental emotion socialization to anger and sadness are associated with depressive symptoms in Chinese adolescents, suggesting that evaluating the communication process and enhancing effective communication regarding parental emotion socialization could be beneficial for adolescent mental health promotion.
