The pan-genome analysis of six Paracoccus type strain genomes from various ecological niches reveals their high genomic adaptation potential, genomic plasticity, and diverse genes for lifestyle adaptations, with free-living genomes having larger genomes and more extra-chromosomal elements, while host-associated genomes feature genes for molecule transport, cell wall modification, attachment, stress protection, DNA repair, carbon, and nitrogen metabolism.
