This systematic review aimed to identify and evaluate questionnaires that measure the attitudes of healthcare professionals towards the use of restraints in mental healthcare. The review found 23 studies reporting on ten instruments, with significant variation in questionnaire content, terms/constructs, and context. Many studies lacked sufficient details on the report of psychometric properties. The authors conclude that there is a need for updated and adapted instruments with clear definitions and strong psychometric properties to reliably assess attitudes towards coercive measures, which will be important for research and clinical settings.
