This study used immunohistochemistry to examine the utero-placental interface of cows during early gestation and found that the interface undergoes significant changes, including the appearance of pregnancy-associated glycoprotein (PAG)-positive cells, dissociation of luminal epithelial cells, and the invasion of PAG-positive cells into the uterine stroma of caruncles.
