This study identifies two clusters of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients with distinct inflammatory phenotypes and respiratory microbiome profiles, with cluster 1 having increased neutrophils and being predominantly Bacteroides, and cluster 2 having higher Fusobacterium and Prevotella, and being negatively correlated with CAT scores and the number of acute exacerbations of COPD.
