Virtual Reality Distraction No More Effective Than Standard Care in Reducing Adolescents’ Procedural Pain during Burn Wound Care Treatment.

This randomized controlled trial found that virtual reality (VR) distraction was not statistically more effective than standard care in reducing adolescents’ acute procedural pain intensity during burn wound care treatment, and suggests that tailoring pain management requires consideration of anxiety, time from burn injury to treatment, length of wound care treatment, and pretreatment pain level.
