This study found that both fasting and post-load non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA) levels in older adults have modifiable risk factors, including sociodemographics, anthropometric measures, medications, and diet, with post-load NEFA being particularly sensitive to metabolic factors and a broader range of determinants associated with fasting levels.
