The methanol extract of the brown alga Sargassum boveanum from the Persian Gulf shows potential as a new source for antidiabetic and antibacterial compounds, as demonstrated by its in vitro α-glucosidase inhibition and antibacterial activities, as well as its in vivo lowering of blood glucose levels in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.
