The extinct Malagasy “horned” crocodile, Voay robustus, can be distinguished from Crocodylus through its unique braincase anatomy, and statistical analysis of 3D models of their internal organs, which supports their proposed phylogenetic affinities with Osteolaeminae and suggests a possible ecological partitioning that allowed for their cohabitation in Madagascar for at least 7500 years.
